MODULAR MUG RUGS is a collection of coasters packed with modular knitting skills. Designed in stripes and garter stitch with applied icord edging, these DK weight coasters are classy and functional. Pattern PDF includes 5 options, each using different skills. Photo tutorials are included for each design option.

YARN

This design uses DK weight yarn, or fingering weight yarn held doubled. Each mug rug uses approximately 54-62 yd / 47-57 m (22-25 g).

Knit Picks Swish DK, 100% Superwash Merino, 123 yd / 112 m per 50 g, or similar DK weight yarn in 2 or more colors, is a great option for this design.

GAUGE & NEEDLES

22 stitches & 44 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch knit flat, blocked

US 3 / 3.25 mm circular needles, minimum length 24” / 60 cm or size needed to get gauge

DIMENSIONS

Width: 4.5” / 11.5 cm

Length: 7” / 18 cm

Individual components differ, but overall size is the same for each style.

This is a written pattern with photo and video tutorials. Techniques include provisional cast-on, picking up stitches, modular joining, cable cast-on, icord bind-off in the round.
