A story begins with a small oddity.

A catalogue card for an object not yet made. A tide chart that predicts when memories return. A tram ticket for the journey someone has been avoiding.

The Oddity Engine turns edited story components into a starting point you can make your own. Keep your favorite details, change the rest, reveal a possible turn, or challenge a friend to imagine another ending.

STUDIO EDITION 1.1 INCLUDES

• Three collections: After-hours Archive, The Impossible Coast, and The City After Twelve.

• 144 edited components: objects, people, places, troubles, clues and turns, plus development questions.

• A shelf for up to 24 favorite cases, with individual removal and undo.

• Restorable shelf backups. Preview an import, skip duplicates, and keep your existing cases. Move favorites between browsers with a JSON file or copyable backup text.

• A readable text export for your writing notes.

• Copy, printable cases, and a friend challenge. The possible turn stays out of copied case text until you reveal it. Shelf backups and text exports include possible turns.

HOW IT WORKS

Download the ZIP, unzip it, and open the HTML file in a full desktop browser. No installation, account, subscription, API key or paid AI service is needed. Your saved cases stay in your browser on that device; keep a separate backup because browser storage can be cleared or unavailable. Some mobile file previewers cannot run HTML. Earlier readable text exports cannot be imported into the shelf.

These are story starters, not finished stories or solved mysteries. You may use and adapt generated cases in personal or commercial writing and tabletop projects. You may share generated cases, but may not redistribute the application or source collections as a competing product. No exclusivity in combinations is promised.

Prepared with AI assistance. Some publications prohibit AI-assisted material; check the intended venue’s rules. Illustration is atmospheric cover art, not an application screenshot. Digital download, edition 1.1.
