When a student struggles with mathematics, the difficulty may begin with an earlier idea or skill that was never fully developed.

The Mathematics Struggle Diagnostic Tool helps parents, guardians, and other supporting adults identify where a closer look should begin. It includes short student tasks, observation guides, interpretation guidance, a focused action plan, and complete solutions.

The diagnostic examines four foundational areas:

• Number sense and arithmetic
• Fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Negative numbers and order of operations
• Algebraic readiness

Designed primarily for students in late elementary through early secondary mathematics, including students preparing for or taking introductory algebra.
