Intended to fit with 8” / 20.5 cm positive ease.

The front and back lace panels are worked first. Stitches are picked up along the side of one panel, additional stitches are cast on for the neck opening, then stitches are picked up along the side of the other panel. The sides are worked outward, towards the side seam and sleeve.

Block the lace panels to the measurements shown on the schematic before picking up stitches for the sides and sleeves.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, both chart and written instructions, front and back images, and a schematic with measurements.

Substitution Notes
Choose a sport weight yarn (or heavy fingering or light DK) in a fibre blend that’s comfortable in warm weather and feels good against the skin. Although the original has alpaca, I think linen would be wonderful.

Techniques
Increases/decreases, three needle bind off, working lace from chart or written instructions, non-conventional sweater construction, worked flat, bottom up and sideways, no sewn seams, picking up stitches.
