Psittacosaurus
Psittacosaurus (literally "parrot lizard") was a species of small dinosaur that lived roughly 130 million years ago. Its fossils have been found primarily in Central and East Asia. It wasn’t very large, averaging just under two meters in length. It belonged to the primitive ceratopsids and was a distant, albeit indirect, relative of the very well-known later Triceratops. The real sensation, however, was the discovery of a Psittacosaurus fossil in Liaoning, China, in 2016. This fossil was preserved with a perfect skin impression, including color and mysterious bristles on the tail! The model you hold in your hands is an attempt at the most accurate reconstruction possible, based precisely on this discovery. Psittacosaurus as it actually looked.
