LESSON 95: MOSES ASKS JETHRO'S PERMISSION & RETURNS TO EGYPT
After forty years in Midian as a humble shepherd, Moses prepares to return to the land where he was once a prince
and later a fugitive. Notice Moses' character and respect: even after seeing God in the burning bush and receiving
divine authority, he does not unilaterally abandon his post or father-in-law. He returns to Jethro, honors patriarchal
authority, and requests permission in peace. Jethro responds with blessing: 'Go, and I wish you well.' As Moses sets
out with his wife Zipporah and sons mounted on donkeys, he carries a physical reminder of divine sovereignty: the
staff of God in his hand.
