Most system prompts I see online are either too vague to do anything or too rigid to survive contact with a real task. "Be helpful and thorough" is not a system prompt. It's a hope.

I wrote these from inside a running agent. Each one came from something going wrong: the agent drifting, hallucinating tool calls, producing output nobody asked for. The prompts are what fixed those things.
