2nd Grade Back to School About Me Name Art Lesson Favorite Things Art Project
This Grade 2 About Me Name Art Lesson has students create an artwork featuring their name, favorite things, symbols, patterns and personal details. Students introduce themselves through art, which makes it a good fit for Back to School, Meet the Teacher, All About Me and classroom community building.
Students learn that identity is made up of the special things that make a person who they are, and that favorite things such as colors, animals, foods, books, games, places and hobbies give clues about someone. They brainstorm and draw their favorite things, design their name, add line patterns, create a colorful background with washable markers and water, then cut, glue and finish the artwork.
