Through the story, children encounter themes of perseverance, literacy, family support, goal-setting, achievement, confidence, and leadership. The Activity & Discovery Journal extends the experience through vocabulary, comprehension, writing, reflection, drawing, critical thinking, and personal-discovery activities.

The Facilitator Guide helps parents, educators, librarians, volunteers, and youth leaders deepen the experience through guided discussion, literacy support, and The Pretty Poodle Success Loop™ (TPPSL) — a five-stage instructional framework:

TPPSL helps children move beyond simply completing a goal. Through guided reflection, children examine what they did, what helped them succeed, what they learned about themselves, and how they can apply that learning to future challenges.

The Reading Achievement Award provides a meaningful way to recognize the child’s effort, participation, and accomplishment at the end of the experience.
