Lana Cowl

Lana is a lightweight cowl worked sideways on bias from the tip to the bind-off edge. The combination of simple stitch patterns matched with fancy construction makes the cowl original and eye-catching. You can make the cowl with just one color, with two colors or more. It can be a perfect project to use leftovers. So grab your yarn and needles and have fun!

The pattern has both, charts and written instructions.

Sizes
One size
Circumference: 60 cm / 24”.
Depth at center front: 54 cm / 21.5”.
Depth at center back: 19 cm / 7.5”.

Yarn
For this cowl you’ll need about 460m / 503 y of fingering weight yarn divided into 2 colors as follows:
C1 – 200m / 219 y, C2 – 260m / 285 y.
Note: The yardage is estimated.

I used for my cowl:
C1 - Martin’s Lab Comfy Merino (100% merino wool; 400 m / 437 y per 100g) in “Ash”.
C2 - Martin’s Lab Comfy Merino (100% merino wool; 400 m / 437 y per 100g) in “O’Hara”.

Needles
3.5 mm (US #4) circular needles ( 80 cm / 32” long ), or size needed to get the right gauge.

Additional materials
row counter, tapestry needle for weaving ends.

Gauge
24 sts and 44 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4 “ - in garter stitch worked flat with 3.5 mm (US #4) needles, after wet blocking.
Obtaining the correct gauge is not necessary in case of this project, however all differences will affect the finished size of the item as well as the required yardage.
