Debate Arena — Defend Claims with Evidence is a multiplayer reading and writing game for grades 6–12. Students debate school-friendly resolutions by choosing the strongest evidence, reasoning and rebuttal cards, then calling objections on the other side's weak or flawed cards. An optional live round has each team speak a short rebuttal for the class to score. The results page shows which cards to review, so it doubles as a lesson on logical flaws.

Skills: Supporting claims with evidence, explaining reasoning, rebuttals and counterclaims, spotting logical flaws, speaking and listening.

Teams take turns on one shared screen, or students play solo. A large question bank is shuffled every game, and every answer gets a short explanation. The Teacher Notes include the standards and a full answer key.

Grade versions included:

  • Grades 6–8: School-life resolutions; flaws include opinion, off-topic, straw man and overgeneralization
  • Grades 9–12: School and community policy resolutions; adds false dilemma, correlation vs. causation and appeals to authority or tradition

Standards:

Common Core: W.1 · SL.1 · SL.3 · SL.4

OAS: Standard 1: Listening and Speaking; Standard 3: Critical Reading and Writing
