Mound Magic: Elves, Necromancy, and Adaptation (Part 1)

Ever since my first experience of singing to the dead inside a mound, I’ve been fascinated by these awe-inspiring places and their ability to straddle worlds. It was this fascination (along with the idea that we can take descriptions of magical practices from earlier sources and work with them) that kept me returning to sit out on a mound on the moors near where I grew up again and again. And it’s that same fascination that has driven me to continue looking for ways to work with mounds even where there are no mounds present (or appropriate to work with).

This class is some of the fruit of that work.

In this series of classes, I talk about everything from the history of burial mounds and their inhabitants to sacred space, souls, death, elves, and necromancy. Along the way, I discuss my experiences in/on/around mounds in two different countries and draw on those experiences to provide you with an overview of what we might think of as the inner “mechanics” of mounds. I also discuss the ethical and preservation issues surrounding this work, as well as the “interactive” features of some historical mounds and how to adapt them for practice.

• Artificial mounds.

In each class, I focus on working with one type of mound-dweller. The focus of this first class is dead human mound-dwellers. The second class widens that focus to include Otherworldly mound-dwellers (especially elves) as well. Please note that due to the overlap between these groups, the the material from the second class builds on the first. This series of classes are best experienced in order.

In addition to research, this class also includes gnosis, experience, experimentation, and practice. This bundle includes trance recordings and scripts in order to continue independent practice after class.

Some Caveats:

The Mound Magic classes are intended for experienced practitioners. If you are less experienced, you engage at your own risk. All adverse affects from the application of the methods and practices detailed in these classes are the responsibility of the buyer.
