Along the way, you’ll also encounter places such as Iglesia de San Millán, Iglesia de San Clemente, Iglesia de los Santos Justo y Pastor, Mirador de la Canaleja, Teatro Cervantes, Casa de los Picos, Palacio de Cascales, Plaza Medina del Campo, Iglesia de San Martín, Palacio Episcopal, Iglesia de San Esteban, Casa Museo de Antonio Machado, Murallas de Segovia, Río Eresma, Iglesia de San Marcos and Paseo del Valle del Eresma.

The complete route is approximately 6–7 km, with around 1 h 15 min–1 h 40 min of walking time and approximately 3.5–5.5 hours including stops.

Recommended starting time: 9:00–10:00 AM at the Acueducto de Segovia.

The route finishes at Real Casa de Moneda, from where you can walk back towards the city center in approximately 25 minutes.

📸 More than a sightseeing checklist

Segovia is much more than its famous aqueduct.

This route is designed to show the city as a layered historical landscape — Roman engineering, medieval Castile, royal power, Gothic architecture, monasteries and the natural landscape surrounding the old city.

You begin with one of Segovia’s most recognizable symbols: the Roman aqueduct.

From there, the route moves through historic streets, churches, Renaissance palaces and traditional squares before reaching the Plaza Mayor and Catedral de Segovia.

Then the character of the walk changes.

The spectacular Alcázar takes you towards the edge of the old city, where the streets become quieter and the landscape opens towards the Eresma valley.

From here, the route leaves the busiest tourist areas behind and continues through riverside paths, old monasteries, medieval walls and historic industrial architecture.

The Eresma valley offers a completely different atmosphere — greener, quieter and more secluded than the historic center.

The final destination, Real Casa de Moneda, adds another unexpected layer to the journey: this XVI-century complex used the power of the Eresma River to operate its minting machinery and became one of the early industrial sites of its kind in Europe.

The idea is not simply to photograph the aqueduct and the Alcázar.

It is to experience Segovia as a city of Roman engineering, medieval history, royal power, nature and hidden corners.

There is room for architecture, history, photography, viewpoints, quiet walks, local food and spontaneous discoveries.

🚶 A flexible route

The route is designed as a light walking route that can be adapted to your own pace.

Although the complete route is around 6–7 km, you can spend more or less time at individual stops depending on your interests.

Some of the main attractions, including Catedral de Segovia and Alcázar de Segovia, require paid admission, so tickets should be taken into account when planning the day.

The guide also allows you to shorten the walking sections using public transport if necessary.

Comfortable shoes are recommended, especially because the route eventually leaves the historic center and continues through the Eresma valley.

And, as the guide itself suggests: don't rush. Look around, notice the details and photograph the light and atmosphere rather than simply moving from one landmark to the next.
