🗄️ Database

The project uses SQLite, a lightweight database that does not require a separate database server.

The application automatically creates the database file and required tables when it runs.

The main database tables are:

  • Customers – Stores customer details.
  • Accounts – Stores account numbers, account types and account balances.
  • Transactions – Stores deposit, withdrawal, opening deposit and fund transfer records.

💰 Banking Operations

The system allows users to manage basic banking operations through a desktop interface.

Users can open accounts, deposit money, withdraw money, check account balances and transfer funds between accounts.

The application validates account details and available balances before processing transactions. During fund transfers, database transactions are used to help ensure that both sides of the transfer are completed together or rolled back if an error occurs.

Example:

Source Account Balance: ₹10,000

Transfer Amount: ₹2,000

Destination Account Balance: ₹5,000

After Successful Transfer:

  • Source Account Balance: ₹8,000
  • Destination Account Balance: ₹7,000

The account balances and transaction records are updated in the SQLite database.

⚠️ Important

This is a desktop-based Java application developed for educational and academic purposes.

The project uses Java 17, Swing, JDBC and SQLite. The SQLite JDBC Driver must be added to the project before running the application.

This is a basic banking simulation focused on customer accounts, balances and transaction records. It is not a real banking system and does not include production-grade security, authentication, regulatory compliance or integration with actual bank services. Do not use it to manage real money or real banking transactions.
