Following your purchase you will receive a pdf file which contains all the resources your staff need to complete the course, including the link to the videos.  You are responsible for copying this document and distributing it to those of your staff doing the course.

This four module online course provides an introduction to foundation level essentials.  It is ESTD-UK's original online course, the elements of which have now been integrated into a new one year blended learning course.  However this four module multi-seat version for groups only remains available to purchase.  It is recommended for use by NHS and similar organisation who wish to train their staff either through an internally arranged training course using these modules as a resource or for independent learning by the organisation's staff. Once purchased there are no ESTD-UK imposed limits on the number of staff who can use the resource.

Participants working sequentially through the four modules and each module’s component units will earn a certificate of completion for 20 hours CPD after achieving a pass on the evaluation of learning multiple choice questionnaire.   But more importantly in completing the course you will gain an increasingly solid foundation in a critical knowledge and skills set.  With this basis you can confidently progress  your CPD through further learning to increase your ability to recognise and work effectively with the many highly dissociative chronically traumatised individuals who present in NHS mental health and other therapy settings.   The course completion certificate is not a qualification but does provide an indication of introductory learning in this complex subject area.

Module 1
– Introduction to Trauma-related Complex Dissociation
This module is a first introduction to the concept of dissociation, the dissociative disorders and some common misunderstanding in relation to those who experience these conditions.

It consists of four units of approximately 25 to 45 minutes each.

Module 2
– Intro to Assessment and Treatment of Complex Dissociation
Introduces the history of the field of dissociation and provides a foundation level introduction to the assessment and treatment of complex dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (DDNOS) or Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD)

It consists of six units of approximately 20 to 60 minutes each.

Module 3
– Origins of Dissociation in Childhood Abuse and Neglect
Provides significant insight into the internal world of the child and adolescent who is dissociative.  The theoretical aspects of child dissociation are presented. The primary development of the self of the child enables the participant to understand the essential needs in the infant and young child for the necessary nurture and attachment.  Without these, trauma might occur, which might lead to significant dissociation in the child.  The module allows the child’s voice to be heard and enables the participant to gain a better understanding of the child’s subjective experiences of dissociation.

It consists of six units of approximately 20 to 40 minutes each.

Module 4
– An Attachment Approach to Understanding & Treating Dissociation in Adults
Provides an overview of attachment concepts relevant to work with dissociative clients/patients & their application to practice.   The module introduces some relevant concepts from attachment theory and the use of an attachment framework in  work with dissociation, its assessment & repair.

It consists of six units of approximately 20 to 60 minutes each.

Presented by Sue Richardson, a UKCP registered attachment–based psychotherapist & a member of The John Bowlby Centre with over 30 years’ experience in the helping professions.
