ABOUT THIS WORK:

William Rimmer was a prolific composer of marches for the Brass Band movement. As a virtuoso and widely respected Cornet soloist he latterly became involved in the conducting and training of bands as well as composing and proffering well-crafted and challenging arrangements for Brass Band. "Ravenswood" is a favourite choice of bands competing in the Whit Marches as a contest march. This arrangement by Denis Burton is conceived as a parade march bringing in the additional colours and techniques available from the woodwinds to provide a welcome opportunity for wind bands to enjoy this fine march.
