The Growing Seed Made Simple

The farmer sleeps — and the seed grows. He knows not how. This Scripture-first guide to Mark 4:26-29 shows you how to trust God with the growth you cannot control: sowing in faith, sleeping in trust, honoring the mystery of "he knoweth not how," recognizing first the blade, then the ear, then the full corn. Twelve chapters cover casting the seed, the holy sleep of the sower, small beginnings, the long middle season of formation, preparing the soil of your heart, persevering night and day, putting down the shovel of anxious control, discerning the harvest moment for the sickle, patience with the growth of the people you love, and the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — who does the growing. Every chapter ends with a practice for the week and a prayer addressed to the Father through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.
