What Happened Between

What Happened Between examines the distance between an event and the record that survives it. Elias Rho encounters a CIVIS GRID protocol update entering an approvals queue before most people are awake, and the novel follows the smaller choices through which discretion becomes procedure: approvals, omissions, revisions, classifications, delays, thresholds, hearings, and parallel records. The system does not need to conceal reality if it can reorganize when reality becomes legible. The book's central tension lies between harm and recognition, and between what happened and when institutions finally permit it to be said.
