When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I was overwhelmed by the variety of treatment options and probable side effects. I quickly learned that a wide array of patient-specific considerations determine the best choice of personal cancer treatment. I had zero familiarity with cancer prior to learning that I have it.

Fortunately, this book provided me with three crucial benefits. First, the book gave me a basic language of medical terms to help me communicate better with my doctor. Second, the book is a roadmap that showed me where (and how) to learn more information about my disease and treatment options for it. The links are useful, and the information is both actionable and conveyed in an intellectual architecture for how to think about cancer. Third, the book was wonderfully succinct. Prior to discovering this book, I felt lost among troves of cancer information that's available online. What I needed were two things that I found nowhere else besides this book: (1) comprehensive information (2) delivered with brevity, clarity and specificity. Overall, I can recommend this book highly for cancer patients and their families.
