This St. Patrick's Day Directed Drawing resource includes 10 step-by-step drawing activities that help students build confidence in drawing while celebrating leprechauns, shamrocks, rainbows and pots of gold. It is a good fit for March art lessons.

It is made for elementary art teachers, classroom teachers, homeschool families, substitute teachers and March art centers. Each drawing has a 6-step directed drawing page, so students can follow along on their own or with you modeling under a document camera. The clear, scaffolded steps help every student succeed while still leaving room for creativity.

HOW TO USE IT

Print the pages as a booklet (the prep instructions are on page 2), photocopy double-sided and staple, place them in duotangs, or print single sheets for one-day lessons, sketchbooks or blank paper. Students outline in black felt or fine liner, then color with the medium of your choice: crayons, colored pencils, markers, oil pastels, watercolor or tempera paint.

Use it for elementary art class, March bulletin board displays, sub plans, fast finishers, art centers, homeschool art and other seasonal art activities.

WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

The drawings connect to visual arts learning outcomes such as the elements of art (line, shape, space, texture, color, form and value), creative thinking, fine motor skill development, following multi-step visual instructions and expressing ideas through art.
