When my partner and I decided to elope, I knew I wanted him to have a pair of handknit socks to wear for the day. I wanted something unfussy (like him) that would knit up quick -- time was short! -- but that was a little bit special. The result is the Parkamoor Socks, named for the Lake District cottage by which we were married!

The Parkamoor Socks are knit cuff down (though the pattern is easily adaptable for toe-up construction). The leg features a simple, twisted stitch cable on either side that’s surprisingly addictive, followed by a plain stockinette foot and (optional) contrasting toe. Options for an afterthought heel (my personal favorite) and a slip stitch heel flap and gusset are both included.

The pattern also includes written and charted cable instructions, as well as detailed directions for cabling without a cable needle. Suitable for the confident beginner sock knitter, these are also great if you love vanilla socks but want something with just a bit of texture and interest!
