Malcom Kirk
Newly ordained minister Malcom Kirk is ready to do the Lord's work in the place he's most needed. Though he could have had the pulpit in any number of wealthy East coast churches, he chooses instead to minister in a lawless little western town that's badly in need of a shepherd. The only question is, will Malcom make the journey west alone? Or will the woman he loves agree to marry him and take her place by his side?
Many readers know Reverend Charles M. Sheldon as the author of What Would Jesus Do? but he also wrote novels to "say some things I wanted my young people to learn, as I found I could not make the same appeal by preaching with a sermon and a text." Every Sunday evening, after services were concluded, Rev. Sheldon read a chapter from whatever novel he was in the process of writing. His congregation responded as he hoped they would, and the "Sunday Evening Series" was born. Over the next twenty years, Rev. Sheldon wrote and read about thirty stories and novels to his congregation, including Malcom Kirk, which was based, in part, on his own life experiences.
This edition of Malcom Kirk includes a biography of the author, Charles M. Sheldon.
