The platform tried to end the season. The season declined.

The company could not write Earth off in a boardroom, so it does the other thing: it ends the slow format and forces every surviving contestant onto the deep floors at once. Fifty thousand people land in the dark in a single hour, and the protest brand that broke the shadow-ban and published the company’s books is suddenly the only government they have.

The audience that became a co-operative becomes an army, running supply lines into a war their own platform is waging. The company offers amnesty floors with food and safety, and all it asks in exchange is your permanent consent to the Vault, and the most uncomfortable thing in the book is how many people sign. And the producer, ordered now by the creditors behind Program Zero to guarantee that no one survives the finale, stops producing a show and starts running the dungeon as the weapon it always was.

Then the lawyer finds it. Buried in the founding charter, the prize obligation is secured against the platform itself. Reach Partner status, demand a prize the company cannot pay, and the company defaults, and ownership transfers to the creditor of record. Winning the show means foreclosing on it.

There is only one catch, and the lawyer runs the numbers, and understands exactly what Partner status costs, and exactly whose name it is written in, and she says nothing.
