Here's one of my favorite movies: "Phase 4" is a low-budget eco thriller from 1974. This is the only film by Saul Bass, who was known for his film trailers and designs, which earned him an Oscar. The film was restored in 2012, and various opening sequences and endings were discovered. While the beginning seems more dramatic due to a different editing sequence, the ending of the director's cut is far more enigmatic. In this version, humanity can only survive if it coexists with the ants. Similar to "The Matrix" or Frank Schätzing's "The Swarm", the ants deceive us into a psychedelic world in which ants are the pinnacle of creation. It's unclear whether this is just fiction or has already happened. Due to a negative test screening, the well-known dystopian ending, Phase IV, was chosen. The ninth track lasts the difference between the two versions... The version from 1974 lasts 80 min...
