The Moveable Alphabet On Paper

In Montessori, children practice isolating the sounds in words prior to learning to read. We usually start with 3 or 4-letter phonetic words and introduce more challenging words as the child becomes comfortable and confident with this work.

The Moveable Alphabet is one of several activities used by Montessori educators to teach and reinforce the isolation of sounds in words. I’ve created this resource to make it easier for children to practice these skills at home. 

Children can either cut and glue the letters onto the worksheets, or teachers/parents can laminate the worksheets and letter tiles so that each is reusable. 

This 60-page resource includes:
- A detailed picture and word list;
- Beginning sounds practice;
- Ending sounds practice;
- Middle sounds practice;
- Beginning, middle, and ending sounds practice;
- A section for children to draw their own pictures and build their own words;
- A large letter bank.
