Originally designed for my Knit Stars Season 6 Beaded Colourwork class, the Solace cushion is my celebration of colour and the beaded knitting techniques I find most satisfying to knit.

It begins with a centre panel encrusted in beaded floats that create an eye-catching X shape on the front of the cushion. Two further beaded panels are created by picking up stitches along the side edges of panel one, then knitting towards the side edges in a more understated beaded pattern. The upper and lower front panels are made by picking up and knitting off the edge of the three centre panels; working them in stocking stitch provides a plain contrast to all the rich embellishment at the heart of the cushion.

Finally, the cushion back is worked in stocking stitch with bands of beaded columns edging the top edge and the flap, which fastens with three i-cord ties.

Pattern instructions include detailed descriptions of techniques and in some cases, external links to helpful video tutorials. There's also a photo step by step showing how to get your beads onto the yarn.
