DIFF Devices - PRECISE V2
DIFF Devices — PRECISE V2
PRECISE evolves from a mastering-focused precision EQ into a fully dynamic, surgical tone-shaping system. Built for engineers who demand absolute control, PRECISE now integrates advanced per-band dynamic processing while maintaining the clarity, phase integrity, and workflow philosophy that defined its original release.
At its core, PRECISE is entirely written in gen~ — not partially, not hybrid — but fully custom DSP from filter topology to dynamic engine. This ensures deterministic behavior, zero-latency response (in standard mode), and extremely stable real-time performance even under heavy automation.
Originally designed as a mastering-grade equalizer with brickwall filtering, PRECISE now expands into a professional Dynamic EQ platform while preserving its clean, controlled sonic identity.
Where Version 1.0 focused on static tonal excellence, Version 2 introduces intelligent movement — allowing frequencies to respond only when necessary. The result is a processor that can be transparent and invisible, or surgical and corrective, without ever compromising tonal balance.

CORE ARCHITECTURE
• 100% gen~ DSP Engine
PRECISE is completely written in gen~, including:
- Filter topology
- Dynamic envelope detection
- Slope morphing
- Mid/Side matrix
- Smoothing systems
This allows:
- Zero-latency operation (standard mode)
- Phase-coherent summing
- High stability under automation
- Efficient CPU usage
FEATURES (VERSION 2)
• 8-Band Precision EQ
LowCut, LowShelf, Bell 1–4, HighShelf, HighCut
Designed for mastering accuracy and mix-level flexibility.
• Dynamic Processing (LS + B1–B4 + HS)
Dynamic control is available where it matters most musically, intentionally excluding LC/HC for stability and clarity.
Each band includes:
- Threshold (dB)
- Range (dB)
- Attack (ms)
- Release (ms)
- Mode: Downward or Upward
• Downward & Upward Modes
- Downward reduces gain when threshold is exceeded.
- Upward expands or enhances frequencies only when they fall below threshold.
Perfect for:
- Controlling harsh resonances
- Dynamic presence boosts
- Low-end tightening
- Transparent vocal control
- Mastering tonal stabilization
• Band-Contribution Detection
Instead of relying on broadband detection, PRECISE measures each band’s energy contribution using a pre/post comparison model.
This keeps dynamic behavior focused, stable, and musically accurate.
• Stereo / Dual-Mono / Mid-Side Modes
Three processing architectures:
- Stereo Linked
- Dual-Mono (Left/Right independent)
- Mid/Side (A = Mid, B = Side)
The Mid/Side matrix is orthonormal and phase-safe, ensuring clean reconstruction.
• Side Detector Boost (M/S Mode)
Optional 0–24 dB boost for Side detection sensitivity without altering actual Side gain.
• Advanced LC/HC Slope Control
8 selectable slopes:
12 / 24 / 36 / 48 / 60 / 72 / 84 / 96 dB per octave
Slope changes use a click-free internal crossfade system for smooth transitions.
• Controlled Resonance Behavior
LowCut and HighCut Q range: 0.1 – 30
Resonance handling is optimized to avoid unexpected volume jumps when increasing slope or Q.
• Spectrum Analyzer
High-resolution real-time spectrum display with band visualization and clear frequency targeting.
• Clickless Smoothing Architecture
All continuous parameters and routing states are smoothed to eliminate:
- Zipper noise
- Pops
- Switching artifacts
- Automation glitches
SOUND PHILOSOPHY
PRECISE is designed to remain:
- Transparent when subtle
- Surgical when needed
- Stable under mastering conditions
- Reliable in complex automation scenarios
Unlike many dynamic EQs that rely on generic compression structures, PRECISE’s dynamic behavior is deeply integrated into the EQ architecture itself — resulting in smoother, more predictable tone shaping.
