Route Lab: 35 Brain-Bending Printable Puzzles for Ages 9 and Up

Route Lab is a printable puzzle book that is not like the others. Every page has its own rule. Slide a marble that cannot stop until it hits a wall. Steer two tokens with one list of moves. Catch an exit that moves every turn. Crack a binary code to choose your path. Solve riddles, rhymes and French and Spanish colour words to find the right door. Then use the codes from nine puzzles to open the final vault.

The puzzles start gentle and get properly hard. The last five are an Expert Bonus built to challenge adults, so the whole family can have a go.

WHAT YOU GET

35 original puzzles in three kinds: number and move puzzles, twisty webs and tunnels, and code and word puzzles (riddles, rhymes, synonyms and a secret cipher)

5 Expert Bonus puzzles built to challenge adults

A separate answer book with a checked solution for every puzzle

Letter PDF (8.5 x 11 in) and A4 PDF (210 x 297 mm) of both the puzzle book and the answer book

One puzzle per page, with a rule, a goal and a small hint

WHY IT IS DIFFERENT

Every puzzle was designed from scratch for this book and solved by computer to prove it has a fair answer. The hard pages are built so the obvious "head straight for the goal" move does not work. You have to think a few moves ahead.

HOW TO USE

Download the files, open the PDF that matches your paper, and print the pages you want. Print at Actual size or 100%. Everything works on a black and white printer: colours always come with a letter or a shape. You can also solve the puzzles on a tablet with a pen app. Keep the answer book somewhere separate so nobody peeks.

GOOD FOR

Kids 9 and up who like mazes, codes and brain teasers, word games, quiet time, road trips, homeschool enrichment, and grown-ups who want a real puzzle.

PLEASE NOTE

This is a digital download. No physical book is shipped. You need a PDF reader, and a printer if you want paper copies.

For personal household use. You may print copies for your own household. Resale, sharing the files and commercial use are not included.
