The Cashflow Planner
Stop reacting to your bank balance.
A simple, date-driven cashflow planner that shows you which months are going to be tight — before they arrive.
Most cashflow templates ask you to track what's already happened. This one looks forward.
The Cashflow Planner is built around one question: is your business bank balance likely to go up or down over the next few months?
Not in theory. Not based on when invoices are issued or what your payment terms say. Based on when money actually lands — and when it actually leaves.
You enter what you expect to receive, when you expect to receive it. Your regular monthly costs, once. Your one-off and annual spends, by the month they're due. And the planner builds you a 12-month picture: opening balance, money in, money out, and a projected closing balance for every month ahead.
Each month gets a simple status. Green means you're fine. Amber means it's getting tight. Red means action needed.
That's it. No complex modelling. No payment terms to configure. No financial background required.
The insight isn't accuracy to the penny.
It's seeing that August is going to be a problem — in June, when you've still got time to do something about it.
What's included
The Cashflow Planner spreadsheet (.xlsx — works in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice), with five tabs:
Start Here — clear, jargon-free instructions so you can get set up without guesswork
Expected Income — enter each payment you're expecting, with the date you expect it to land
Recurring Expenses — add each regular cost once, with a start month and optional end month; the planner handles the rest
One-Off Expenses — capture planned spends, annual renewals, and larger purchases by the month they're due
Cashflow Summary — your 12-month forward view, with a Green / Amber / Red status for every month
