Relocation Clarity: A Workbook For Deciding Well
Relocation Clarity
A decision framework for choosing where to live—without the fantasy or the dread.
Most people don't regret relocation because they chose the wrong country. They regret it because they moved with incomplete information, unrealistic expectations, or unexamined tradeoffs.
This workbook helps you avoid that.
Relocation Clarity is not a relocation guide. It's a digital decision framework for people who want to think clearly before committing to a major move.
I built it after moving to Mexico following a layoff—and realizing that most difficult relocations don't fail from lack of courage. They fail from partial clarity.
The Difference
Most people ask: Where should I go? What's the best place? Will this finally make things easier?
Better questions: What problem am I actually trying to solve? What would my ordinary days feel like there? What kind of effort would this life quietly require?
This workbook slows things down just enough to ask those questions.
What It Helps You Do
- Eliminate places that won't work for your body, finances, or nervous system—early, before you get attached
- Imagine what daily life would actually feel like once the novelty fades
- Weigh money, bureaucracy, belonging, health, and flexibility across time—not just on arrival
- Tell the difference between what you can tolerate and what will quietly wear you down
- Arrive at a clear position you can stand behind, even if that position is "not yet"
The goal isn't certainty. It's decision integrity.
What This Is (and Isn't)
This is:
- A structured, step-by-step framework you work through slowly
- Useful for international moves or relocations within one country
- Honest about tradeoffs without being pessimistic
- A way to think clearly without rushing toward an answer
This is not:
- A list of "best places" or destination rankings
- A logistics guide (visas, budgets, moving companies)
- Motivational content or inspirational stories
- Quick or easy
Who This Is For (and Who It's Not For)
This workbook works well if you:
- Want structure but not hand-holding
- Are willing to sit with questions that don't have clean answers
- Prefer clarity over reassurance
- Know you need to think this through properly before committing
This probably isn't for you if you:
- Want someone to tell you where to go
- Need encouragement more than analysis
- Expect relocation to solve problems that aren't actually location-based
- Are looking for a quick decision
If you're looking for simple answers, this may frustrate you.
If you're ready to do the work that leads to decisions you can trust, it will help.
How It Works
The workbook has three parts:
Part I: Filters (3 labs)
Quickly eliminate places that won't work—climate, density, cost range
Part II: Decision Labs (7 labs)
Evaluate daily life, money, bureaucracy, belonging, health, and flexibility in detail
Part III: Integration
See the whole picture, notice patterns, and identify where you actually stand
You can use it to compare multiple locations, evaluate a single place, or figure out whether relocation is even the right question right now.
Most people take weeks, not days. Many stop partway through because the answer becomes clear before the end.
This is how you move somewhere you love and actually stay.
