The Celts, a vast collection of Indo-European peoples, dominated much of Europe from around 1200 BCE. Their vibrant culture, characterized by intricate metalwork, hilltop settlements, and a strong oral tradition, flourished across what is now France, Britain, Ireland, parts of Spain, and even Anatolia (modern-day Turkey). Renowned warriors with a unique fighting style, they were also skilled artisans, crafting beautiful jewelry and weaponry. Their polytheistic belief system revered nature deities and emphasized an afterlife. Despite Roman conquest and assimilation, Celtic languages like Gaelic and Welsh survive, and remnants of their culture continue to influence festivals, folklore, and art throughout Europe, keeping the spirit of the Celts alive.
