The Longest Distance

It's nearing the end of the Victoria era, and Emilie Graves-Waring's husband, Ned, has quietly invented a marvelous machine that allows people to see into the future through their descendants' eyes. But like all great things, the invention exacts a steep price, and Emily little suspects the secret Ned is keeping from her--until it's too late.

This story was originally written as part of The Chain Story, an online storytelling project directed by author Michael A. Stackpole. Each story was intended to stand alone, but they all began or were set in “The Wanderer’s Club”, a fantastic building that exists outside normal time and space, where storytellers gather to exchange their tales.
