Tembo! (The Elephant Drum) brings the journey of Cheche Kuwa Moto to its conclusion with the immense presence, voice and rhythm of the elephant.

Before human hands shaped the drum, the elephant walked the earth. Its footsteps carried through the ground, its breath filled the air and its trumpet travelled across the landscape. In those sounds, the people could hear power, rhythm and a heartbeat greater than their own—the earth itself becoming the elephant drum.

Drawing together the stones, fire, river, birds and voices encountered throughout the episode, Tembo! celebrates the elephant as a symbol of strength, wisdom and rhythm. The individual sounds of the journey now become one—many voices, many people and many traditions joining together in the birth of music.

Blending African-inspired rhythm and voice with mammoth orchestration, powerful choral elements and contemporary production, Tembo! completes the journey from the first simple beat to a celebration of shared musical expression.
