Is love ever really a choice?

Sophie Waters has always thought love was a choice you had to make, and for her, she has never been chosen. Seven months after ending her engagement, she is barely keeping herself afloat. She’s fianceless, owns her exes family’s failing restaurant, and attempting to keep her life from crumbling into shambles.

She’s spent her entire life feeling out of control, forcing love that’s not reciprocated, trying to fix broken people, broken families, and broken relationships. It’s how she lost herself in the first place. So when Noah and a teenage Liz move in next door with more baggage than moving boxes, Sophie promises herself she’ll steer clear of them.

That is until Liz gets a job at Sophie’s restaurant, and suddenly Sophie finds herself tangled in Noah and Liz’s world, wanting to be the role model for young Liz that Sophie never had for herself.

But when helping Liz finds Sophie growing closer and closer to Noah, she vows not to get in the middle of their relationship. The closer she grows to them, the more terrified she becomes of what she’s always feared most: standing between two people who already belong to each other.

As Sophie begins to pull back from them, she has to decide whether keeping her distance is protecting them, or simply another way of refusing to be loved. For the first time in her life, Sophie is forced to ask herself whether love is something that must be earned-or whether she has deserved it all along.

It Could Be Us is a story of deep connection, discovering your worth, and the love that comes in various different forms. Sometimes the hardest thing is believing you are worthy of it in the first place.
