A geometric indulgence crafted in garter stitch with endless possibilities for color combinations!

Playing with Parallelograms is a modular project that combines rectangular blocks with parallelograms. The long edges gently zigzag while the short edges are straight.

This shawl is worked in garter stitch with increases and decreases for shaping. Only one block is worked at a time, but some blocks transition directly into the next, while others are bound off. Stitches are then picked up along the sides to create the next blocks.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished scarf.

Here’s a video tutorial on the shawl’s construction, how to pick up stitches, and how to make joins between colors: https://youtu.be/xJ9R1aASLpY

Here’s a video tutorial on weaving in ends as you go: https://youtu.be/Lm0RbpmbWlI

And here’s a video tutorial on working the applied i-cord edging: https://youtu.be/WvsTPjCE7qs

This project is easy to customize! Please note that changing the yarn will affect the size of the shawl and the amount of yarn needed. The sample used 3 colors, but this project would be perfect for using up scrap yarn.

The instructions are written. The pattern includes detailed schematics.
