Capture engraving text, gift lettering or a short product message in the classic WooCommerce purchase flow. One configurable plain-text field for each simple product, with optional required status and a 1–200 character limit.

Included: installable GPL ZIP, original PHP source, readme and testing/support notes. Text stays on the cart line and is copied to order-item metadata. Different text creates different lines; identical text merges normally. No additional charge or product price change.

Setup: install on staging with WooCommerce and PHP mbstring, enable Text personalization in a simple product General panel, set the label/limit/required status, and use classic single-product, cart and checkout pages. Required text must be entered on the product page, not an archive add button. Exclude product forms from long-lived caching because nonces expire.

Verified pilot: WordPress 7.1.3, WooCommerce 11.2.0, PHP 8.5.11, SQLite, legacy order storage and Twenty Twenty-Five. 37 integration checks including real cart and persisted synthetic order-item CRUD, plus seven package/syntax/bootstrap/official scan checks. Browser Chinese text entry, add-to-cart, cart and classic checkout summary verified. HPOS compatibility declared via WooCommerce CRUD, but no HPOS matrix tested. No actual payment or email delivery test. Scanning is not WordPress.org approval or an independent security audit.

Limitations: no Blocks, Store API, headless/custom AJAX/quick view, variations, bundles, uploads, conditional fields or pricing adjustments. Existing text is preserved if disabled; changing limits can invalidate existing carts. Remove and re-add to edit text. Native order screens/emails may show the text; do not collect sensitive data. Data follows normal WooCommerce retention and remains on uninstall. Back up and test on staging first; no broad compatibility/load/multisite claim.
