The Nightkeeper's Case Files, Vol 1

Nine case files. Most of them closed. Not all of them should have been.

A box arrived on my doorstep one night. No note. No one in the street. Inside were case files from different decades, typed on different machines: deaths signed off too quickly, disappearances nobody looked into twice, small strange things that didn’t add up and were filed away anyway.

These are the first nine I’m willing to let out of the box.

A clockmaker who stopped seven clocks on purpose. Letters a woman wrote to herself before she forgot why. A ghost in the back of a taxi with an alibi four million people watched. A man who appears in the background of one family’s photographs for thirty years. And a file with no case number, about the box itself.

Every answer is in the file before the file tells you. Read slowly. Look at the background.
