In this 4 session flex class, beginning ukulele students, aged 7-100, will learn to play "Surf".
No prior knowledge is required, but the students need to already have their ukuleles tuned to the notes G, C, E and A.
In the first class, students will learn the basics of playing the ukulele--how to hold their ukuleles and begin to learn to play these basic chords: C, F, am, G7.
In the second class, students will review the C, F, am and G7 chords and will all the chords d minor and D7 for a total of 6 chords.
In the third class, we will learn the popular strum pattern used in "Surf" (Down, Down Up, Up, Down Up)
In the fourth class and final class, we will put it all together to play the famous song "Surf".
I will give tips and tricks to gradually play it faster.
I will use flash cards, games, and modeling
techniques in this class.
Since practice is an important part of learning an instrument, I recommend that students practice 10 minutes, 4 days per week for a total of 40 minutes practice per week. Practice logs will be provided.
I have taught this song to dozens of students! It is a perfect "first song" to play on the ukulele because it easy to play but sounds very impressive,
especially when played fast!
This class has all 5-star reviews.
Below is what parents have said about this class:
~Ms. April is an excellent teacher! Highly recommend her classes! She makes learning
so easy and gives excellent feedback!
~I like the flexibility of the class. The material was helpful and easy to understand. Ms. April was fun and taught the class well. I recommend this class for a beginner in learning the ukulele.
~The teacher did a good job of breaking down the concepts. There was a sensible progression (and added difficulty) each week, and it did take 4 weeks to learn all the concepts to play the whole song. A flex class was a good option for a beginner. My son was able to stop and replay the lessons while we practiced to work on the technique.
~Miss April is an awesome teacher! My daughter really enjoyed her ukulele class and I was so amazed how quickly she learned to play the Surf piece.
~My daughter loved her Ukulele classes. Now she is performing little recitals for the family that we are enjoying in our living room, loving to see her that happy and confident, and wanting to learn more.
