Knot Front Crop features a unique twisted detail at the hem and seamless construction so you can wear it (almost) right off the needles. This top uses just a few skeins of fingering weight yarn for a quick and satisfying garment knit. Wear with high waisted skirts or pants for a true cropped look or style over dresses for a fun layering piece that will take you across seasons!
Knot Front Crop is built to be interchangeable with Knot Front Tee - the bust stitch counts match so there’s no need for any fiddly adjustments! This means you can knit the lower body from one, and go straight into working the upper body from the other version when you divide for the front and back, for a total of 8 pattern options!
This pattern requires knowledge of increasing, decreasing, working in the round, and picking up stitches. An illustrated tutorial is included in the pattern to show you how to execute the front twist.
Yarn: Valley Yarns Charlemont, or other fingering weight yarn that knits to gauge
Sizes: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64)” / 72 (82.5, 92, 103, 112.5, 123, 132.5, 143.5, 153, 164) cm
Yarn Requirements: 410 (485, 560, 650, 725, 815, 885, 1035, 1120, 1245) yds / 375 (443, 512, 594, 663, 745, 809, 946, 1024, 1138) m
Gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette St, blocked
Needles and Notions: US size 4 / 3.5mm circular needles and DPNs, stich markers, removable stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle
Sample garment is shown in size 36”, worn with 2” of negative ease at the full bust. To achieve a similar look, choose a size that is 1-5” smaller than your actual full bust measurement. For bustier folks, the upper body is worked entirely in stockinette, so modifying to add Horizontal Bust Darts for additional length over the bust should be straightforward!
