A thorough review and evaluation of your film business plan, casting, marketing, distribution strategy, comps, and financials. You get feedback both written and verbal via phone. Tanya will review your plan from an investor’s perspective, challenge, and question your assumptions as well as provide thorough feedback on your plan's marketing and distribution strategy, strengths, and weaknesses.
Tanya will analyze each section of your plan individually and then look at the plan as a whole to determine the viability of your film and the likelihood of its success.
The evaluation will answer the question, does this film have a chance for success? A detailed explanation of the answer will be provided so the filmmaker is clear about where the plan falls short. Recommendations on making the plan a strong and attractive financing vehicle will be provided.
Your film business plan will be evaluated on the following questions that potential investors and producing partners will ask themselves and that your plan should answer:
- Is the business plan readable?
- Is the business plan well thought out?
- Is the logline interesting?
- Is the summary/synopsis attractive and complete?
- What is the legal structure of the film?
- SWOT Analysis - what are the film’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats?
- Has the filmmaker accurately described the risks associated with investing in an indie film?
- Are there any vague or unsubstantiated statements in the business plan? (i.e. film is guaranteed to be a box office hit)
- Is the filmmaker being realistic about the projected outcome?
- Is there data to support the financials?
- Is the budget in scope?
- Does the filmmaker have any LOIs or LOCs?
- Is there a credible creative and production team in place?
- What are the challenges associated with this film?
- Is the filmmaker in a position to overcome these challenges?
- Has the filmmaker included all the necessary financial statements?
- Are the financial statements realistic?
- How much financing is requested? Is it reasonable?
- Has the filmmaker shown how and when the investors' money will be recouped?
- Has the filmmaker outlined the marketing strategy?
- Has the filmmaker described the distribution plan, and have they identified potential companies and/or platforms?
- Does the filmmaker have a MOU?
- Has an attorney drafted the financing agreements?
