Systems of Equations Partner Activity | Elimination and Substitution Practice
Give students a partner-based way to practice solving systems of equations with this Systems of Equations Partner Activity. Students solve systems using both substitution and elimination, then compare answers with their partner to check their work.
This activity includes 20 total systems of equations problems. Partner 1 completes Set A with 5 substitution problems and 5 elimination problems. Partner 2 completes Set B with 5 substitution problems and 5 elimination problems. Each problem is designed so that a substitution problem matches an elimination problem with the same solution.
After solving, partners compare their answers using the provided answer tracking sheet. If their answers do not match, students work together to find the error, check their solving steps, and correct their work. Once students complete one set, they can switch and solve the other set for additional practice.
