Nighteyes in the Mountains Mitts

In the Farseer series by Robin Hobb, FitzChivalry is bonded by the Wit to a wolf, Nighteyes. When they follow their Queen in search of their missing King through the Mountain Kingdom, Nighteyes goes ahead to make sure the way is clear, checks the trail behind them to assure them they are not being followed, and hunts to keep them alive when food is scarce. Along the way, he bonds with most his traveling companions, taking them into his pack.
