Deconstructed Texas Sheet Cake
Texas sheet cake means a lot to our family. It was a staple at every family gathering when I was growing up. Just seeing it on the dessert table meant I was in for a good time. If you're not familiar with this delicious treat, it is a super moist chocolate cake with a rich chocolate frosting that is poured on while the cake is still warm. We always added toasted pecans on top for added texture and flavor. This flavor captures the essence of the beloved Texas sheet cake in ice cream form. Milk chocolate sour cream ice cream with pieces of Texas sheet cake, swirls of frosting, and finished with toasted salted pecans.
PS: The recipes yield more cake and frosting than you'll need for the ice cream (intentionally, because it is so good!) so feel free to get creative with the leftovers. I’m a huge proponent of snacking on frosted cake pretty much anytime day or night!
