“There is a whole other world that exists. And there is a way to summon the shadows. There are secrets to discover—forbidden knowledge that humanity was never meant to learn. These secrets will yield an unfathomable power.”

After news broadcaster and journalist Daniel Shaw is fired from his network in a blaze of controversy, he's a man with no job, no direction, and no idea what comes next. Then a stranger's journal shows up on his doorstep, with a note warning him that its secrets will change how he understands the world.

The journal belonged to a vanished archaeologist. Its pages are obsessed with The Book of Enoch—the ancient, forbidden text that claims two hundred angels once fell to earth, took human wives, and fathered a race of giants. It's supposed to be nothing but myth.

Daniel doesn't believe it either. Not until he is assaulted by an intruder looking for the journal and warning him to stay away from it.

Desperate for answers, he turns to the one person he never expected to need again: his ex, Georgina Benveniste. Georgina is burying her father, tech billionaire Phillippe Benveniste, and inheriting a secret she never asked for—his decades-long hunt for knowledge that was never meant to be found. Now it's hers to finish.

As they dig deeper, the line between research and possession starts to blur. Daniel is attacked in his sleep by something that isn't human. Georgina starts remembering things that never happened to her . . . or did they? Neither can explain what's hunting them. Both are starting to believe it isn't metaphorical.

"Maybe he discovered something ancient. Something that should have never been found."

The trail leads past every rational explanation, into the wilderness, and face-to-face with an enemy that's been waiting underground since before recorded history. To survive it, Daniel and Georgina will have to confront the darkness in the world around them. And the one they've been carrying inside.

Some doors were sealed for a reason. They're about to find out why.
