Faith, hope and Love; The traditional seamen’s symbols.

They light thousands of windows in Pietarsaari during the Christmas season. The same symbols have lighted the main street of the town since 1850.

It was the symbol of the love the wives had towards their husbands that were at se, the hope that they’d return safely and faith that they would.

Just a simple knitting pattern.
