Watson Crick Socks Knitting Pattern
Watson Crick is a mid-calf sock with a graphic representation of DNA.
These socks have a mirrored pattern of spiraling cables with garter stitch stripes. The leg has the cable and stripe pattern on the front and back, the foot has the stitch pattern only on the top with a stockinette sole.
They are worked from the top down with a traditional slipped stitch heel flap, heel turn and a wedge toe.
The sock begins with a 2x2 rib in a twenty row cuff. The spiral cable pattern is worked once front and back for the leg. The heel flap is then worked with a slip stitch and the heel is turned. Stitches are picked up down the sides of the heel flap and the sock is worked in the round again, continuing the stitch pattern on the top of the sock only and decreasing the gusset stitches. The sock ends with a wedge toe.
