This Spring Flower Silhouette Art Project teaches students to draw a variety of spring flowers and then turn their drawing into a striking silhouette painting with bright spring colors.

Students start by drawing several spring flowers step by step, building them from simple shapes and lines. Then they paint a soft, blended watercolor background in spring colors and paint the flowers in bold black silhouettes. The colorful background glows behind the dark flowers, which makes a great bulletin board, hallway gallery or seasonal art display.

WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

The project helps students feel successful while exploring contrast, color blending, line drawing and composition. They practice directed drawing and observation, painting watercolor-style backgrounds, understanding silhouette art, flower design and expressing seasonal themes through art.

The clear, structured steps work for a wide range of learners and still leave room for creativity. It suits elementary art classes, classroom teachers adding art to spring units, homeschool art and substitute art plans.
