“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” ― Edith Sitwell
Sometimes the best acts of comfort are the simplest ones. No need for grand gestures, nor is there a need to stress oneself over what the most appropriate course of action would be. A listening ear, a friendly touch, or a handmade knit can bring great comfort to someone in need.
The Comfort Cowl, knit up in bulky yarn, makes for a quick knit, perfect for gift giving. It’s long enough to be wrapped around the neck for a snug fit, or can be worn hanging down. The Maori wave motif serves as a unique colorwork design that is simple to knit and stunning to look at.
Yarns Used: Fibre Co. Tundra (Bulky ; 60% alpaca, 30% wool, 10% silk ; 120yds/109m ; 100g). 2 skeins in Snowdrift (MC), 1 skein in Silverwolf (CC).
Needle: US9 (6mm) and US10.5 (6.5mm) or size to attain gauge.
Yardage: 360 yards (327 m).
Gauge: 13 sts and 22 rows = 4” (10cm) in St. st (after blocking) in larger sized needles.
Other Notions: Darning needle, stitch marker.
This pattern has been tech edited and test knit for errors and clarity. Pattern is charted only due to the colorwork technique. Includes written instructions on how to work the Lativian Braid technique.
