What is Fascia/Connective Tissue? Fascia is a thin lining of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure, fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin, when it is stressed it tightens up, you would feel this as stiffness/aching in your body, muscles, joints, spine, cartilage.
Healthy fascia is smooth, slippery and flexible. Factors that cause fascia to become gummy and crinkle up (adhesions) are: • A lifestyle of limited physical activity • Repetitive movement that overworks one part of the body • Trauma such as surgery or injury.
METAPHYSICAL: Your fascia represents your connection with your mind, body and spirit – your connection to everything that IS. When your fascia is blocked, scarred, adhered, too tight or too loose, your connection to Universal life is out of balance and blocked. Movement can be lacking or completely limited. Fascia responds to your thoughts, feelings, fears and physical traumas. so instead of supporting you, your fascia can feel restricted.
