THE DEAD – Sleep in the Dust by Bro H

Verse 1 The LORD formed man from the dust of the ground And breathed the breath of life into him. And man became a living soul. He was not given a soul that could leave; The living man himself was the soul. Body and breath became one living person— Take back the breath, the body returns to the dust, And the living soul is gone. Chorus They sleep in the dust till the voice of the Lord; No work, no knowledge, no praise in the grave. The man who had died came walking forth, His hands and feet still wrapped in burial cloth. Verse 6 The serpent said, "You will not surely die" — The first lie, spoken in the Garden. Plato dressed it in philosophy, And the mysteries gave it a name. Rome put the dead in heaven, hell, and purgatory And the Reformation left it standing.
